Skin Information
I have a combination skin. My skin can be dry or normal in some areas while it’s oily on the T-zone.

Concerns

  • I get acne on my neck every time I eat chocolates. It will stay there for ages, until it leaves dark spots scar. (✔️Problem solved)
  • I have pores, which I think would be my problem in the future. My pores are small at the moment, but due to having an oily skin, I know they will get larger sooner or later. (❌ Still looking for a solution)
  • I think it’s due to the weather, I get tiny, colourless bumps all over my forehead. Sometimes I got a lot, sometimes I got less, but it never goes away.  (❌ Still looking for a solution)
  • Blackheads/ Whiteheads on nose, which I’m not really bothered. This forms because of clogged pores.

New Skin Care Routine

First of all, I’m mostly at home, therefore I seldom use my CC cream or foundation. I have no idea why I never got  that smooth face. I tried several masks, both cheap and expensive. I tried a few different Japanese facial washes too. None seems to work. I hope it’s different this time.

It’s the 26th of May at night time when I changed my facial wash again. Moreover, I bought two facial cleanser because I want to try double cleansing. I heard about this method before and it’s what my ex friend were doing when we’re together. After washing her face, she does it again for the second time using the same product. However, since I got a combination skin, I decided to try Speedy oil treatment. According to my research, it’s better to clean an oily face with an oil cleanser! This is followed by a medicated cream wash, it’s actually for acne, but maybe it would help those tiny bumps (rough skin) on my face, as well as those pores to become less visible.

 Softymo Cleansing Oil
5 types of organic oil used: Shea butter, olives, jojoba, sesame and safflower. This is my first step to remove my makeup and all the dirt from my skin, deep down to the pores.

It says that there is no need for double cleansing, but I don’t think that’s correct. I saw a left over of my CC cream on my nasal bridge. Maybe it’s my fault for not cleaning that part properly, which I will definitely do on the second night. I will only use this at night. One pump if I’m not wearing any makeup, one and a half pumps with makeup.

Mentholatum Acne’s Medicinal Face Wash
Apart from vitamin C and E which is visible on the packaging, this contains an anti-bacterial agent to sterilize acne bacteria in the depths of pores. It also washes away pimple causing dirt and sebum. This cleanser is the final step for double cleansing to deep clean the pores. This exfoliates, treat acne, moisturise and controls oil which is suitable for my skin type.

This is very soothing and actually hurts the eye, so I’ll be careful next time.

Sana Pore Putty BB Cream
I tried Keana mask to get rid of my pores. I’m not sure if that’s possible, but I haven’t seen any improvements. Thus, i decided to try this BB cream. I know it supposed to fill in those pores and not to improve it. But, I really want a solution for my pores since masks didn’t work.

According to the translation, you’re suppose to use this daily for 5 minutes (10 days). I did my research and instead, used it twice a week for 30 minutes! I saw other reviews/ recommendations, which means it worked for them, that’s impressive and I’m really jealous...

Back to the product, I decided to pick the natural colour instead of the bright colour. The reason for this is that, I am currently using pigeon powder. It makes my face really white because I have to apply it before and after my bb cream.

Now for the results, I was disappointed. This is a popular brand here in Japan, but made a little difference. Even my Korean base done a better job. I had to re apply my powder after two hours. On my Korean base, I didn’t have to do any touch ups for 9 hours! My face was a bit oily, but it just looks dewy and not oily like a fish that you need to take away those excess oil.

Zooming in on those pores... This is after applying a face lotion (A very light, watery moisturiser for hydration). You’re supposed to use this and then applying your milky lotion (second light moisturiser) or your familiar cream face moisturiser, afterwards, which I don’t. Depending on the season, you use the thick cream on winter/ night time, while milky lotion in the summer, for instance. I normally just use the watery one (morning) all year round since I got combination skin.

This is after applying my powder and the BB cream. Such a slight improvement, I even put another layer on those pores. Thank god I bought it on sale, it was 1,200 yen. I got it for 500 yen, so I’m not complaining. I’ll probably dispose it when I finished my Pigeon powder.

This is after applying the last layer of my powder. It made another slight improvement.

Read the next part of my diary for any updates regarding my new skincare routine. Finger crossed!
